2 Dupe Options for Zoya Phoebe

I am assuming that Phoebe has been discontinued, since it's no longer on Zoya's site and I've seen it clearanced out at a few Ulta stores. But if you didn't get a chance to grab one I found a couple ways to duplicate it.

Phoebe can be recreated by using a matte topcoat over either Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Brisk Blue or SH Xtreme Wear in Blue Me Away! Blue Me Away! Is definitely a more true dup, the Brisk Blue comes up a little lighter. BTW I am using Hard Candy Matte-ly In Love over the two Sally Hansen polishes.

So there you see. If you didn't catch it while you could but you want the look of Zoya Phoebe, you now have a couple of easy drugstore duplicates! And even though there is an extra step it's actually a little easier. I had to apply 4 coats of the Zoya, but did 2 coats of the SH polishes topped with one coat of the matte topper.

Helmer, how do I love thee!!

One thing I have read on many many nail polishes is the IKEA Helmer for storing polish. Well, now I too am singing it's praises. It's AWESOME!! I can't tell you how great this thing is. The polishes can all stand up, which is the best way to store them. I don't have much more to say about this that isn't just gushing praise, so I'll just show you a couple pictures and tell you that if you are able to get one you will definitely not regret it!

Ta da!! The Helmer.

Top drawer has all my China Glaze, MAC and Zoya polishes.

Impromptu Orange polka dot mani

I was bored and playing around with my orange polishes, also pulled out my dot tool for a trial run, and this is what I came up with.
I used Zoya Tiffany on the middle and pinkie fingers, and N.Y.C. Classic Coral Creme on the pointer and ring finger. Dots were made with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Whirlwind White.

NOTD: Zoya Emme

I'm not sure I like this color yet. It's one I got from the free Zoya Facebook giveaway. I guess I'll see if it grows on me.

all my base are belong to experiement

I have this week off from work due to illness, so what a better time than do a test on some of the different basecoats I have. I started each nail with Essie beam up. On my pointer finger I used NailTek Foundation II,  middle finger got Zoya Anchor, ring finger has Nail Life Gripper, and the pinkie has Essie 3-way-glaze.

I didn't take pictures, sorry, but for me the best are the Nail Life Gripper and the Essie 3 way. The NailTek and the Zoya had chips in them in day. In all fairness I am out of CND Stickey, which I have had good luck with, so I will keep that on my to buy list.

Zoya Ultra Glitters

Zoya Ultra glitters are some of the best polishes I have ever used. The best thing about them is that they are super easy to touch up. If you get a chip you can just dab a little on and put top coat over it and it looks as good as new.

Asta is the reddish one. In my picture you can't really tell a whole lot of difference between Astra and Nova, but in real life Astra is reddish and Nova is purplish.

As I said I love these because of their fixability factor and the fact that it's so glittery it's saving a step of putting a glitter over regular polish. Love it!

Working on my first sticky sandwich

I am just finishing up my first sticky sandwich. I have read lots of blogs and there are different ways to do it. What I am trying is the most general:
1. sticky base coat (I am using CND Stickey)
2. polish ( I am using Rimmel 60 Seconds polish in Climax)
3. sticky base coat
4. polish
5. top coat (the only one I have right now is Zoya Armor)
6. fast dryer (Orly Fast Dry)

I will report in a few days with results and pictures.

My first Zoya haul!

I had never heard of Zoya until I got really "into" nail polish and started reading nail blogs, watching tutorials, etc...

So I decided to get myself an early Christmas present and jump right in with my first order! I'm still not really sure what's going on myself but here it is to take a look and I'll get things labeled. Of course then I'll have to play around with it. I guess what I'm saying is get ready for a lot of Zoya posts coming up here.
